Heavy snowfall in north-eastern United States have seen record snowfall in the commercial capital of New York City, and the closure of schools and creating travel chaos for millions.

In New York City Department of Education said in a statement in the early hours of Friday morning, February 26th 2010 that all public schools in Manhattan and Staten Island, Queens and the Bronx and Brooklyn will be closed due to bad weather.

"Given the weather conditions, snow, and will be closed all day New York City public schools, in the February 26, 2010. All after-school activities and events PSAL will also be abolished. Administrative offices will remain open," in a state of alert in New York City Department of Education website .

At the same time, record snowfall that was recorded in New York City overnight, as well as near the current circumstances in the blizzard.

Warned that the passengers were expecting delays in the early morning hours.
