
Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has constituted a full bench to hear petitions against the appointment of superior court judges.
According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court, the Chief Justices of all four Supreme Courts have urged CJP to take up the matter. In light of these letters, CJP has decided to constitute a 17-member full court bench to hear petitions against appointment of superior court. The SC has issued notices to federal secretary and the Attorney General in this regard.
The employment tenure of 32 Additional judges will be completed by September which in turn may lead towards a judicial crisis.
It is pertinent to mention here that Additional judges including four from Balochistan High Court, seven from Peshawar High Court, nine from Sindh High Court and 12 from Lahore High Court will complete their term of employment in September.
