Beckham made his first appearance for England in September, in September 1996 and played in all games with his national team which qualified for the 1998 World Cup and was part of the England squad in the World Cup finals in France.

But a stunning free kick from Beckham ensured England in qualifying, and was later voted the BBC Sports Personality of the year.
Beckham was only partially in time for the 2002 World Cup and scored the winning goal against Argentina with a penalty.
Beckham played in all games for England at Euro 2004, but a penalty kick in the match which they lost 2-1 to France and missed another in the shootout in the quarter-final against Portugal.
A day after England were knocked out the World Cup, which is emotional Beckham made a statement at a news conference, saying he resigned from his position as England captain.
Beckham was dropped completely from the English national team selected by new coach Steve McClaren in August 2006 under Fabio Capello after he got a second chance and became a regular, back as captain against Trinidad and Tobago in June 2008.
Capello must now consider the right side of midfield, and hoped that Aaron Lennon back from injury, although it can also be considered by Theo Walcott, Shaun Wright-Phillips, James Milner, and did not even uncapped Manchester City winder Adam Johnson.
