Tsunami Warning Center in Alaska : The quake had a magnitude 8.8 off the coast of Chile in early this morning, which is leading the warning of the tsunami across the Pacific Ocean, including along the coast of Oregon.

The West Coast and Alaska Warning Center said a tsunami Oregon coastal cities could see the waves about a foot or two high-arrival in the afternoon during low tide. Waves could affect the low-lying areas and some beaches.

High waves and strong currents that could hit the northern Oregon coast between 2:30 and 3 pm, about an hour or more after their arrival onthe coast of southern Oregon.

Advisory is not as severe as they were issued a tsunami warning and does not require the evacuation of some coastal cities and towns.

Nearly 120 people were confirmed dead near the epicenter. There were about thirteen aftershocks, with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale and was felt in Argentina.
