Ash Wednesday

Today is Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans, the day before Ash Wednesday. A tradition says that people eat all they want of everything and anything they want from fat Tuesday, and Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Lenten fasting for Christians. Fat Tuesday and I spent in New Orleans one year was easily the most fun ever at any location.

- On Ash Wednesday in New Orleans, the revelers wake up to a city with clean streets completely strange calm. Ankle deep garbage that is allowed down in the French Quarter duringMardi Gras would have been swept away by the people in the hard work during the night.

- Church traditionally serves up a dinner party before Ash Wednesday service that features dishes and egg pie – any meat. Googling in the question: Why eat eggs, no meat on Ash Wednesday, I came across this answer on Yahoo answers that sums up a person called Larkana 1, and put it in perspective for me: “The choice is up to you. The Catholic Church advocates practices of many of the heroes and fasting on certain days of the year, in fact, carrying more of the church in the old days’ adventure, but honestly tell you this … Do you work good to all men, and respect your parents and elders, do not cheat. Pray and have faith in the firm your God. These actions will get on the road to hell, even if you eat eggs, or consume meat on Ash Wednesday. God bless you. “
