
The super flood of River Indus has wreaked havoc in Thatta city and Tando Hafiz Shah. People in bulk have started to move out to take shelter in other safe areas. The flood tide entered into the Shahdadkot city after breaching the safety embankment built to save the city while the evacuation towards safer areas was underway.
Sindh Relief Commissioner has declared 17 districts of the province as calamity-hit after floods damages. According to the reports, 90 per cent of the city has been evacuated. Army and police personnel had been deployed to face any untoward situation. Heavy machinery was being used to fill the gap as 20 feet wide breach has been occurred. The devastation spell caused by the flood of river Indus is still underway. Many villages of Thatta have submerged and now Tando Hafiz Shah has started to submerge in water.
Water surge increased pressure on Nawabshah embankments; a 950,000 cusecs flood tide is passing through old Hala near Bhanot whereas water ripped through four villages Jamal Hajano, Hameeso Machi, Wasso Machi and Jan Muhammad Laghari of Kutcha areas. Around ten villages including Interpor and Akro have been inundated by water surge in River Indus.
The districts of Sindh declared as clamity-hit include Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Nuasheroferoz, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Larkana, Qambar-Shehdad Kot, Dadu, Jamshoro, Mitiari, Tando Mohammad Khan, Hyderabad, Thatta and Badin have been declared as calamity hit districts, according to the announcement. These districts have been declared calamity-hit due to human, animal and property loss.
In Balochistan, flood torrent took 25 villages under water of Gandakha of Jaffarabad. Water level in Dera Allah Yar has been increased to 16 feet disrupting its ground link from the rest of the country. Affectees were facing acute problems in shifting from the said areas.
In Southern Punjab, flood water signed no sing to recede as Muzaffargarh, Khangarh and other areas are still under water. Bunda Ishaq, Faizpur, Makhan Bela and Chowk Bela and Chowk Nazeer were submerged while the protective embankment near Raheem Yar Khan has been broken to save the national highway from inundation. Jatoi, Rohailan, Shehar Sultan and other areas are still under water.
