Clarke was born in Durban, South Africa. He even golf at the age of three years and was taught to play by his father. He attended the University of North Carolina in the United States, where he was a college golf career success, and won the ACC Player of the Year in 1997. During this time he won the 1997 general and links to qualify for the PGA Tour’s first case, which was the Masters 1998 tournament.
