Shannon Meehan : Out of the market: life on the front line in Iraq – Book Description
Under the blazing Iraqi sun in the summer of 2007, ordered Shannon Meehan, a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, a strike that would kill innocent Iraqi civilians. He thought he was doing the right thing. He thought he was protecting his men. He believed he would only kill the enemy, but in the effects of the strike, he discovers his mistake and reveal a tragedy.
For most of his deployment to Iraq, and saw Lieutenant Meehan have been made for life in the army. The tank commander, was working in the province of Diyala, and succeeded in counter-insurgency in the Sunni and Shiite factions. Was celebrated by the top brass and decorated with medals. However, when entering the U.S. to regain control of Iraq in 2006 and 2007 and finally led to Baquba, a town almost entirely controlled by al Qaeda, would Meehan adoption of this resolution would change his life.
This is the true story of one soldier in an attempt to reconcile what he did with what he felt he had to do. Flagrant and destructive, it tells closely at the reality of a new kind of undeclared war which is still to a large extent, forgotten on the front lines in Iraq.
