Lancair iv p : A man was killed Monday morning when the Lancair IV P (small single-engine plane) made an emergency landing on the beach near the Hilton Head Marriott Resort and Spa. The plan was to glide propeller plane to the airport Hilton Head, but the weather forced the pilot to crash land on the beach.
The plane started leaking oil at about 13,000 feet, which led to engine failure. The plane had descended to the bottom where there is no force in the fan. Robert Gary Jones in Woodstock, GA was jogging on the beach while listening to the iPod. He was hit by one of the plane’s wings from the back.
As the plane began to leak, and I got covered the windscreen of the aircraft with oil, resulting in a lack of vision for a trial period. The identities of the pilot and passenger were not made public.
Beaufort County prosecutor Ed said Robert Allen “not seen or heard from the plane.”
