Connecticut Light And Power : In the wake of the powerful storm this weekend, and thousands of residents of Connecticut, primarily in the Fairfield County area, are still without electricity.
It is estimated that slightly more than 54,000 customers were still waiting for the electricity returned to their homes as of 10:05 this morning, according to a report in the light of the storm’s center of Connecticut and energy on the Internet.
Crews from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and as far as Ohio and Canada were on their way to our Sunday night to help repair the local units that had overflowed from the extensive damage caused by the storm.
Heavy storm hit the Tri-state area on Saturday night and Sunday morning, severely damaged power lines, homes and businesses, and other property inFairfield County. Stamford, Norwalk, Darien and Greenwich recorded falling trees and debris from high winds.
The storm affected a large area of north-eastern part of the United States, including Connecticut and New York and New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to media reports, at least five people died as a result of bad weather, including two in our region.
Weather reports showed a dramatic winds with speeds of 70 miles per hour.
