Muhammadali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr., January 17, 1942) is a retired American boxer and three times World Heavyweight Champion, which is one of the greatest boxers the world championship heavyweight of all time. As an amateur, he won a gold medal in the heavyweight light Summer Olympics 1960 in Rome. After turning professional, he went to become the first boxer to win the championship consisting of lines of three-time heavyweight.

Originally known as Cassius Clay, Ali changed his name after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964, then switch to Sunni Islam in 1975. In 1967, Ali refused to be inducted in the U.S. military on the basis of religious beliefs and opposition to the Vietnam War. He was arrested and convicted of draft evasion, stripped of his title in boxing, and boxing license was suspended. He was not imprisoned, but did not fight again for nearly four years, while his appeal worked on the way down to the U.S. Supreme Court, where she was successful.

Known as “the Greatest”, Ali was involved in several boxing history. Notable among these three with rival Joe Frazier and one with George Foreman, who won a knockout to win the world heavyweight for the second time. He suffered only five losses (four decisions by the retirement of one TKO Bout) with no direction in his career, while building up 56 wins (37 knockouts, 19 decisions). Ali is well known for unconventional fighting style, which he described as “float like a butterfly, sting like bee”, which uses techniques such as rope and one in the doping. He was also known for his pre-match hype, as he was “trash talk” and opponents on television, in person some time before the game, often with rhymes. Quips this character, and expressions along with non-traditional technique of fighting made him a cultural icon. Later in life, and Parkinson’s disease. In 1999, and culminated in the “Athlete of the Century” by Sports Illustrated and “Sports Personality of the Century” by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

After the Olympic victory, Clay returned to Louisville to begin his professional career. There, in the October 29, 1960, he got his first professional fight, a six-round decision over Tony Hunsaker, who was police chief of Fayetteville, West Virginia.

Standing tall at 6 ft, 3 – (1.91 m), Clay was the pattern is very traditional of the boxer in the heavyweight division. Instead of the normal pattern of the hands that carry high to defend the face, and said he instead relies on speed and foot speed to avoid punches and carried his hands low.

From 1960 to 1963, the young fighter amassed a record of 19-0, with 15 knockouts. Defeated boxers such as Tony Esperti, Jim Robinson, Donnie Fleeman, Alonzo Johnson, George Logan, Willi Besmanoff, Lamar Clark (who had won the previous 40 bouts by knockout), Doug Jones and Henry Cooper.

Mud from building a reputation for correctly predicting the round in which he said had “done” many of the opponents, and boasting before the victories. Clay admitted that he relied on the exercise of this recent “Gorgeous” George Wagner, a popular professional wrestling champion in the Los Angeles area, who drew thousands of fans. Often referred to as “the man who loved to hate,” George could incite the crowd with a few heated remarks, and Ali followed suit.

Clay were among the victims of the Sony Banks (who knocked him down during the bout), Alejandro Lavorante, and aged Archie Moore (boxing legend who fought more than 200 former battlefields, and Clay, who was trained by Angelo Dundee). Mud had considered continuing using Moore as coach after the game, but Moore had insisted that the cocky “Louisville Lip” to do the work of training camp, such as washing dishes and sweeping. As he considered the presence idol, Sugar Ray Robinson, as a director, but instead hired Dundee.

Dundee mud met for the first time when the latter was in Louisville with light heavyweight champion Willie Pastrano. And adolescents Golden Gloves winner traveled downtown to the fighter in the hotel, called Dundee from the house phone and asked up to their room. Dundee took the opportunity to query (who worked with him, or was the champion Sugar Ramos and Carmen Basilio) about what his fighters ate, how long they slept, and how much work (jogging) they did, and how long they sparred.
After the game with Moore, and Clay got 10 over the disputed decision over Doug Jones in the competition, which was named “Fight of the Year” for 1963. Clay in the next fight was against Henry Cooper, who knocked Clay down the left with a hook near the end of the fourth round. The fighting stopped in the fifth because of deep cuts to Cooper’s eyes.

Despite these close calls, Clay became the most prominent candidates for the title of Sonny Liston. Despite the impressive home record, but he did not expect on a large scale to defeat the hero. The fight was scheduled for February 25, 1964 in Miami, Florida, but when it was canceled almost promoter, Bill Dunkirk, I heard that Clay was seen in all parts of Miami and other cities with the controversial Malcolm X at the time, and theNation of Islam , which was Malcolm X member, described as a hate group by most of the media. [Edit] Because of this, news of this association was seen as a gateway to potentially fatal heart which, in view of the situation as Weston overwhelming favorite to win (7-1 odds), Clay colored personal and bragging non-stop as the only appeal.

Dunkirk confronted Clay about his association with Malcolm X (who, at that time, was actually under suspension by the nation as a result of controversial comments made in the wake of the assassination of President Kennedy). While stopping short of admitting he was a member of the Nation, Clay protested against the proposed abolition of the fighting. As a compromise, he asked the Dunkirk fighting to delay announcing his conversion to Islam and even after the war. The incident is described in the book 1975The greatest: my story by Ali (with Richard Durham).

During the weighing in on the day before the game, announced from the ever boastful Clay, who is often mocked for Weston, through the crowd he called a “big ugly bear” (among other things), that “float like a butterfly and sting like a bumblebee” , and outlined its strategy to avoid the attacks of Weston, said, “your hands can not hit what your eyes can not see.”

In 1964, Ali failed the U.S. Armed Forces qualifying test because his writing and spelling skills were below the level required. However, early in 1966, was reviewed on the experiences and reclassified 1A. This category means that he is now eligible for the draft and recruitment in the U.S. military during a time when the United States had been involved inthe Vietnam War . When notified of this situation, and announced that he refuse to serve in the army of the United States and publicly considered himself a conscientious objector. That “The war is against the teachings of the Koran, and I am not trying to circumvent the draft resolution, and we are not supposed to participate in any wars unless declared by Allah or The Messenger, we do not take part in Christian wars or wars of any unbelievers.” Ali also in 1966, famously said: “I have no quarrel with them Viet Cong never called me … and the Negro.” Rare world champion in heavyweight boxing in those days, and occur at Howard University, where he presented his popular “black is best” speech to 4,000 cheering students and intellectuals after the community was invited to speak at Howard by Howard, Professor of Sociology, and Nathan Hare, on behalf of the Black Power Committee, a student protest group.
Appear shortly afterwards and his scheduled induction into the armed forces the U.S. on April 28, 1967 in Houston, he refused three times to step forward at the invitation of his name. Officer warned him that he commits a felony punishable by five years in prison and a fine of $ 10,000. Once again, Ali refused to budge when it was named after him. As a result, he was arrested the same day in New York State Athletic Commission suspended his license for boxing and stripped of his title. Other boxing commissions followed suit.

In this court on June 20, 1967, after 21 minutes of deliberations, the jury found Ali guilty. After the Court of Appeal upheld the conviction, the case went to the U.S. Supreme Court. During this time, the public began turning against the war and support for the beginning to grow. To support himself speaking at colleges and universities across the country, where is the opposition of the 20ali1.jpgwar http://www.bsidenation.com/images/bsidepics1/muhammad% was especially strong. On June 28, June 1971, the Supreme Court overturned his conviction for refusing induction by unanimous decision in Clay v. United States. This decision was not based on, are not addressed, the advantages of Clay / Ali claims per se, but the government failed to determine which claims were rejected and which were ongoing and were the foundations upon which the Court overturned the verdict.
