Hawaii Tsunami 2010 Video Accepted as Not as Bad as Chile Earthquake 2010 Video. Yesterday was the day of the 2010 Hawaii tsunami. Many expected a very large wave that would potentially do tons of damage to the seascape of the Hawaiian Islands. Instead, the tsunami was relatively small, and there was no damage or casualties. This is great news, and now people want to see the video of the tidal wave coming in.
It’s interesting, really, to watch the video (which is available here). You see the ocean recede, exposing a coral reef. At that point, individuals started to expect something reminiscent of the movie “2012” which was out in December.
It really could have been worse. In the 1960’s an earthquake in Chile prompted a tsunami in Hawaii that killed 61 people. It all depends on the force that is sent through the water, and there’s no real way of knowing just how strong atsunami will be. It’s best just to prepare for the worst.
The surprising thing to many individuals watching various news coverage clips of the 2010 tsunami in Hawaii is that there were boaters out at sea. Many worry that the boaters would be hurt by the wave. However, as a tidal wave travels through the water, it simply moves water. It’s not until the water starts to become shallow that the force becomes dangerous. It seems counter-intuitive, but a boat is safer at sea than it is at the dock. At the dock, it would likely be devastated by a wave.
On the other hand, the Chile earthquake 2010 video is scary. Click here for a YouTube video showcasing the earthquake aftermath.
