Dan Fitzgerald, college basketball coach is widely credited with transforming Gonzaga transferred to the National Center for basketball, passed away on January 19, 2010, at the age of 67. Fitzgerald had collapsed on Tuesday evening while dining at a restaurant in the highlands of the larynx, and for reasons not disclosed.

Fitzgerald is perhaps best known for bringing the NBA in the future legend John Stockton to play for Gonzaga, and Gonzaga Bulldogs bring NCAA] tournament for the first time in 1995. The Bulldogs have now been in every NCAA Championship] since 1999.
