Ohio State U niversity : Worker killed (2), were injured in Ohio shootingCOLUMBUS, Ohio - and the shooting Tuesday morning in the Ohio State University campus maintenance building left one officer and wounding two others, the university said. One of the suspects had been detained.
The shooting was first reported at 3:30 am on Tuesday, said University Police Chief Paul Denton in a news conference. Workers injured two others wounded were taken to Ohio State University Medical Center, where one was in critical condition and the other in stable condition, he said. The third employee was pronounced dead at the scene.
Heavily armed officers searched the campus buildings in the area, including the power plant, the university, and police believe that the person who was responsible for the shooting had been detained, Denton said.
Police did not release any names. While investigators are trying to determine the suspect’s motive, Denton said.
Ohio, the nation’s largest university, said he did not hurt students and groups will be held as scheduled.
“This tragic event, and our hearts go out to all families,” said Vernon Baisden, assistant vice president for public safety.
Graduate students Kiernan Gordon (31 years), he discovered about the shooting of his wife, who contacted him on his cell phone while driving his car on campus. He said he did not have any fears about personal safety.
“Ohio is really a city in itself, and like any city has problems in itself,” said Gordon.
And maintenance of the building where the shooting took place is just east of Ohio school playground where he plays soccer team.
