Baghdad - 7:22 colleagues and officials report a total of four mortar attacks on Baghdad's heavily fortified "Green Zone" and four other bombings in the Iraqi capital. No reports of injuries.

Polling stations are scheduled to open soon in Iraq in the general election.

Country aims to turn the page on years of violence in the parliamentary elections, which comes just six months before the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops. Year is also expected to vote in large numbers, in stark contrast with 2005 when it boycotted the elections that took place.
