Foster’s upset helps Cowboys edge Iowa State for Big

BIG 12 WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP : NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Clayton Foster, Jordan Oliver and Jamal Parks won individual titles to lead Oklahoma State to a narrow win over Iowa State at the Big 12 wrestling championships Saturday night.

Foster all but sealed the title with an upset against top-seeded Max Askren of Missouri in the 184-pound finals. Askren had beaten Foster in all four of their previous meetings, but Foster came away with a 10-6 decision.

Even an upset by second-seeded David Zabriskie against top-ranked Oklahoma State heavyweight Jared Rosholt couldn’t catapult the Cyclones back ahead. Zabriskie beat Rosholt 3-1 in the second overtime but would have had to pin Rosholt to give Iowa State its third straight team championship.

Oklahoma State finished with 70½ points, Iowa State had 69 and Oklahoma placed third with 64. Missouri was fourth and Nebraska fifth.
